Directions
Contact us to help arrange transportation for you or provide driving/motorcycle directions from anywhere in Cambodia.
From Battambang to Osoam to Koh Kong: Battambang to Pursat 116km, 2:20hrs Pursat to Osoam: 157km, The journey is also going to take at least 3.5 hrs depending on stops.
By bus and shared taxi; total cost: Bus to Pursat $8; Shared taxi to Osoam Community Centre $10-12
Set out early! the journey takes longer than it looks, and you may have to wait for buses or a shared taxi traveling that direction, as well as several stops for other passengers. Most drivers also set out from Pursat before 11am. If you leave later, you may have to do it in two journeys.
Several bus companies run regularly from Battambang to Phnom Penh, traveling through Pursat. The easiest way is to ask your hotel in Battambang to arrange a ticket for you and advise you how to get to the right bus station as many bus services cannot be found online. Costs should be $4-9. From where your bus drops you in Pursat, make your way to the Psar Chas, the central market, by TukTuk or on the back on a motorbike. It should cost no more than 4-5000 riel.
It’s advised to get there early; ideally before 10 a.m. for the best chance to find a shared taxi of locals traveling this way. Tell your Tuk driver or the first person to approach you that you wish to travel to Osoam, and they should be able to locate someone traveling that way. You should be able to find a shared taxi all the way to Osoam for $10-12. It’s best to negotiate the price before you leave.
The road for the second part of the journey (Phumi Pramaoy to Osoam) is still under construction so leaving early is best to get there in time for dinner. During the rainy season it also may not be possible to leave late in case taxis get stuck.
If you leave later in the afternoon, you may have to stop in Pramaoy. Metapheap Guesthouse offers simple yet clean rooms for $5 a night. It’s located on the right hand side right after the main roundabout as you enter town from Pursat. Shared taxis may be found in the morning waiting at the roundabout.
Private taxis from Pursat: Private taxis may also be available and travel more directly, but will cost $50-100.
Motorbike: If you are traveling by motorbike yourself, the route is the same, travel Road 55 from Pursat to Pramaoy, take a left at the large roundabout on to Road 10 all the way to Osoam Community Centre. The road from Pramaoy to Osoam is still under construction with most of it being dirt road. Take care and leave in plenty of time. Especially during rainy season, it’s best to leave as early as possible to avoid getting stuck or driving in dangerous conditions
When you get to a large lake on your left, and some viewing tables you should be there, and the Osoam Community Centre is on the right! If you crossed the bridge after the lake you’ve gone just a little bit too far.
